What are Veneers?
There’s no better feeling than smiling and laughing, but many people refrain from doing so as they are embarrassed or worried about their teeth. Enter porcelain veneers to save your smile!
Whether you’re unhappy with the size, shape, or color of your teeth, porcelain veneers could be the answer for you. In the case of big cracks on anterior teeth, veneers are used to cover and protect the remaining tooth/teeth structure with the very minimal prep of the tooth and the use of porcelain/E-max material with the same shade of the teeth. A porcelain veneer is an extremely thin layer of super-strong material that substitutes for your tooth’s natural enamel. When bonded to your teeth, they can create a natural-looking surface that looks like brand new teeth — these have the added benefit of never staining!
More About Veneers
Dental veneers are custom-made casings so they are versatile to be able to improve any of the following issues:
- Color — Teeth can be heavily stained due to smoking, consuming certain food and drinks, and aging. When staining is irreversible and won’t be improved with teeth whitening, porcelain veneers can rectify this problem. The color can be chosen by the patient to ensure they are happy with the shade and they feel natural to them.
- Shape and Size — Not everyone is happy with the shape of the teeth they were born with, while others find their teeth have been worn down by grinding habits. Veneers can be the solution to reshape and resize your teeth to ensure uniformity and a beautiful, straight smile.
- Spacing — Veneers can also be used to close any extra space between teeth or help align them better.
What to Expect from Porcelain Veneers
Our dentists at Herndon Dental Arts will create a model of your teeth based on the smile makeover you would like. We will apply temporary veneers while we send the model to a dental technician in a lab who creates the permanent veneers over the course of a few weeks. Once we get them back from the lab, we will invite you into our dental office in Herndon to cement the new veneers in place.
Herndon Dental Arts is also able to offer patients ceramic veneers in just one visit using our CEREC technology. If you are interested in this treatment, click here.
You should take care of your veneers just as you would your natural teeth by brushing and flossing daily and visiting your dentist in Herndon regularly for cleanings and check-ups.
Veneers are typically an irreversible treatment as, when applied, a small amount of your own tooth enamel needs to be removed to fit the veneers. Therefore, before you take the plunge, we like to show you a digital preview so you know exactly what your smile will look like post-treatment, but we don’t think you will regret your decision!
