At Herndon Dental Arts, we use Philips ZOOM!® Teeth Whitening, a one-hour whitening system that can be completed in just one visit which means it’s perfect even for patients who have a busy schedule.

Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. It can’t make your teeth brilliant white, but it can lighten the existing color by several shades.

The technology uses a special bleaching agent which works alongside a high-intensity light, sometimes known as a laser whitening light. The light is used to enhance the effectiveness of the bleach.

Prior to the whitening, we place a rubber shield or apply a special gel to protect your gums. We then place the bleaching agent directly onto your teeth and use the high-intensity light to boost the whitening. If you have particularly sensitive teeth, we can also apply a desensitizing agent.

We also offer custom take-home whitening trays that are made to fit your mouth perfectly so you can whiten your teeth in the convenience of your home. This offering has a lower concentration of bleaching agents than what we use at our dental practice in Herndon but is higher than what you will find over-the-counter. You will still achieve the same results as the in-office bleaching but it will take a little longer.
